The studio

Twenty-four architects, two studios and one rule: a building should know which way the wind blows.

For twenty years we have drawn houses, schools, libraries and harbours along the Norwegian coast. We start every project on site, in the weather, and we stay until the last board is on.

How we work

From the first walk on site to the last board on the wall.

01 · Read the site

We walk the site in every season we can, and measure where the sun and wind come from.

02 · Draw by hand

The first ideas are pencil on tracing paper, on the table with the client.

03 · Build it small

Cardboard models show what drawings hide: light, scale, the walk to the door.

04 · Stay to the end

We follow every building on site until the day the keys are handed over.
